THE REIKI PRINCIPLES

The Reiki Principles were some of the only instructions left to us by the founder of Reiki, Mikao Usui. They can be used as a guide to living in harmony with ourselves and others. 

At first glance they can look very much like a set of rules or commands. We are conditioned on earth to think that if we do not obey rules then we may receive punishment - so many of us naturally reject them and become real-breakers! On closer inspection though, looking at "Just for Today" we see that trying to live by these principles in the current moment is all we need to do. If we fail one day then each new day thereafter is a new opportunity for us to try them again. In my opinion, this shows the gentle and tolerant spirit of Reiki which is universal and open to all.

- DO NOT WORRY
- BE GRATEFUL
- WORK WITH DILIGENCE
- BE KIND TO OTHERS AND YOURSELF

he original instructions for these principles was to sit every morning and every evening with hands in the prayer position and repeat them aloud to yourself. Eventually they will become so committed to memory that one will automatically think of and use them in everyday life.
